Universal emotions

  • Marit Zandbergen / Fine Art

‘To me, an emotion or feeling evokes something in your body. You feel it in your body, as a part of it, as something that hinders you or that you carry with you. In my work, I want to make these emotions tangible, sometimes literally turning them into an object, with which the body must be in proportion. Therefore, in my sculptures, I enjoy using the human figure. My motivation is very personal, but human emotions are universal. In that way, my creations can have meaning to everyone. My goal is to create something that people can relate to, something that can be moving, inspiring, and that challenges people to reflect.’
